Massage

DEEP TISSUE

Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).  Deep tissue work is more therapeutic than Swedish massage and often coincides with an injury to heal the issue that is occurring.  Deep tissue massage describes more targeted techniques designed to release adhesions (or knots), and improve range of motion in a specific joint of the body.

Thai Massage

In traditional Indian belief, the body contains energy called prana.  This prana circulates throughout the entire body along energy lines called Sen which are similar to the meridians in Chinese medicine.  The Sen carry vital life energy and beneficial blood movement.  Energy gets trapped along these pathways and needs to be released in order to improve vitality, relieve tension, increase flexibility/range of motion, release tight joints, and align the skeletal structure-muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints.  The entire body and it's organs can be treated by working along these pathways.  For example, by utilizing acupressure it encourages the flow of blood and lymph throughout the body.  It is the purpose of Thai Massage to allow the body to unfold and balance the energies and thus put it back into alignment.  In order to achieve this balanced state, a blend of acupressure, compression, massage, range of motion, gentle traction, and passive yoga are incorporated.   No oil or lotion is used during a session.  The client wears comfortable clothing and receives the session on a soft mat on the floor.  The dance of Thai massage is non-invasive, helps overall circulation, improves the internal health and enhances the well being of an individual.

SWEDISH MASSAGE

The most commonly used form of classical Western massage, generally performed in the direction of the heart, sometimes with active or passive movement of the joints. It is used especially for relaxation, relief of muscular tension, and improvement of circulation and range of motion.  Swedish massage is intended to improve circulation and tissue elasticity while reducing muscle tone and creating a parasympathetic response.

Ear Candling:

This centuries-old folk medicine practice involves the use of hollow candles usually made from gauze and beeswax/paraffin/soy wax that are rolled into the shape of a tube. When placed in the ear and lit, ear wax, fungus, etc. are drawn to the heat and removed from the ear. Following this non-painful procedure, the candles may be unrolled to view the nature and quantity of the contents that have been removed in order to determine if more than one candle would be of benefit.

Ear Candling:  $40 for the first 2 candles and $10/per candle after that
